Lauren McGovern, Beads from the Barn

Lauren began creating beaded jewelry over twenty years ago, but only in the last several years has branched out to create with fused glass and metal clays. An artist in Jay taught her how to cut, design and fire fused glass and she’s taken metal clay classes with Nancy Miller, an amazing metal clay jewelry designer based in Saratoga Springs, NY. Lauren works as the school counselor at North Country School (NCS) in Lake Placid, New York and teaches a weeklong jewelry design class with students in grades 4-8 during NCS’s Intersession. Her business is called Beads from the Barn because she works in a small studio in the 1920s barn she and her family renovated into their home.
