Tannery Pond Community Center

Minutes from Gore, a cultural link

When the WPA Ski Bowl burned down in 1999, this community lost an important gathering space. That’s when a local couple donated a plot of land they had earmarked for open space to become this new center, which opened just a few years later. The 11,200-square-foot space features a 131-seat auditorium, art gallery and meeting rooms. Art exhibits rotate all year long, and other events include concerts, plays and film showings. (For the technically minded, the building was built with a host of energy-efficient features, including a hydronic snow-melt system to eliminate the use of salt and a geothermal heating and cooling system.)
