First Weekends was created by a band of Plattsburgh movers and shakers who came together to help grow culture in the community. They were joined by downtown  businesses, organizations and galleries to host family-friendly free events and art openings in the first weekend of the month throughout the summer, as well as an annual tree-lighting event in early December.
