Mini Route 66
Get your kicks on the mini route 66.
Over a period of 14 years John Van Buiten and his friend Richard Koert built their own, less congested version of Route 66 in Speculator, NY. John and his wife donated the project to the Historical Society of Lake Pleasant & Speculator in 2014. It was moved next to the Speculator Pavilion and officially opened in July of 2016.
At a glance
- All structures are 96 square feet (to avoid building permits)
- Each building took about a year to build
- Gas station, post office, general store, and ice cream parlor
