One Square Mile of Hope

Break a Guinness world record – and raise money for breast cancer research

Twice, Inlet has held the world record for the largest floating raft of canoes and kayaks. Three times, though, that record has been broken. So this fall they’ll try again, with the third One Square Mile of Hope event to raise money for breast cancer research. Thousands of paddlers (at least 2,100, if they’re going to break the record set by a group in Michigan in 2013) will shove off on Fourth Lake, linking hands to form a giant floating amoeba. (Check out the aerial photos – it’s pretty cool.) Organizers hope the third time will attract 3,000 boats and raise $100,000 to fight the disease.
