McCauley Mountain

Don’t sell it short – this family-friendly hill has produced skiing royalty

It’s easy, in the North Country, to be a bit biasé about Winter Olympians – in the past couple of Games, the area has sent a blizzard of downhill skiers, biathletes, lugers and more. Historically, McCauley has more than done its part: Even though you could stack five of these mountains beside Whiteface, three Olympic skiers grew their roots at this hill. McCauley, which opened in the 1950s and is owned by the Town of Webb, features 21 trails and five lifts – a couple of rope tows, a couple of T-bars and a double chair. There’s still a thriving racing program at the hill, too.
