Capitol Theatre

See classic films in restored splendor at a 1,700-seat theater

When the Capitol Theatre opened in 1928, every day was a chance to revel in the great films of the era. Now, one weekend a year is set aside for Capitolfest, a threeday celebration of classic films that draws cinephiles from around the world. A restored organ accompanies silent films and carbon-arc lamps make the classics flicker to life on a 20-by-40-foot screen. Throughout the year, more than 100 other films and live acts take over the stage.
